Dislocated Worker Program

The Dislocated Worker is the individual who:

  • You are terminated or laid off, or have received notice of termination or discharge from employment and are eligible for or have exhausted your rights to unemployment compensation, or are part of the workforce and are not eligible for unemployment compensation for insufficient earnings or due to that the employer is not covered by the Law, and it is unlikely that he will return to the industry or occupation from which he ended or was suspended.

  • You were terminated or laid off, or received notice of termination or layoff from employment as a result of permanent closure, or substantial suspension at a plant, facility, or business.

  • He is employed in a facility in which the employer made a general announcement that the company will close within 180 days; or has made a general announcement that said facility will close.

  • Self-employed (including farmer, fisherman), but is unemployed as a result of the general economic conditions of the community in which you reside or due to natural disasters.

  • Displaced by domestic tasks. It is the person who has provided services without pay in the home, to the members of the family unit and: has depended on the income of another member of the family unit and no longer has that income; or you are the spouse of a member of the armed forces on active duty and your income has been significantly reduced; or you are unemployed or underemployed and have difficulty obtaining or improving your job.

  • Spouse of an active member of the Armed Forces who has lost his or her job as a result of the permanent relocation of her husband.

  • Spouse of an active member of the Armed Forces and who is unemployed and is experiencing difficulty in obtaining a job or improving the one they have.
